Two of my favorite people in the world are Katey Rich and Jeff Cannata. Jeff co-hosts the insanely popular Totally Rad Show video podcast and he is often a delightful combination of insightful and hilarious. Above all, you can tell he’s having fun at what he’s doing, so I always relish the chance to chat with him about any topic relating to entertainment. And there’s little I need to say about the lovely Katey Rich, who helps run Cinemablend: She’s super duper smart, and has become a good friend to me over the past 6 months.
The past few weeks have seen the release of two bold, original films: Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 and Quentin Tarantino’s latest, Inglourious Basterds. Both of these films are, in my opinion, thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking. They’re the type of movies that you see in a movie theater and leave compelled to discuss with your friends. But even in a long-form, self-indulgent podcast like the /Filmcast, I didn’t feel that there would be enough time to really dive into everything I wanted to say about these movies, and I’m sure Jeff and Katey felt the same way about their respective shows/sites as well. So this past Saturday, we fired up Skype and just chatted about our love for these movies, and geeked out about some specific scenes.
